KUMU HULA:Roots and Branches explores the ancient origins of hula and the indelible ties between Hawaiian generations past and present, as preserved by varying schools of kumu hula and students for generations.

It is the story of Hawai'i itself, where hula is the medium and Hawaiian values and history are the message. In understanding the source of hula and centuries of tradition, the reader gains an insight into the true Hawaiian experience, replete with historical references, cultural sensitivities, mythology, religion, and inspiring individuals.

A portion of the proceeds from the sale of Kumu Hula will go to The Pacific American Foundation (PAF) to fund its mission of improving the lives of Pacific Americans, primarily within Hawaii's education system.
